Cabo Wabo

Cabo San Lucas is one of my favorite places to visit during the spring. Don't go in or after September through December because that's their hurricane season! I've been through one of their hurricanes and although we had a fabulous time during the storm, I wouldn't want to do it again unless free Margaritas were involved.

Money:
Mexico's currency is the Peso. U.S. Dollars are widely accepted in Cabo, but expect bad exchange rates if you choose to use dollars. The peso is normally closer to 11 pesos to a dollar, but local merchants are likely to charge you 10 pesos to a dollar for purchasing their goods. You can exchange your currency at the airport. Check out the website for more information, and you can always purchase Mexican Pesos in your country before visiting Cabo.

What to do in Cabo:
Sunbathing, snorkeling, boating and fishing are the main things to do in Cabo. It's a super chill place for all ages.

If you are looking for a little bit of snorkeling, dancing and all the drinks you can handle, then book an excursion on the Buccaneer Queen Pirate Adventure. The captain and his mates will have you shaking your booty (no puns intended). Be sure to visit Lovers Beach and El Arco (The Arch), as shown in the photo above.

My favorite ocean activity is renting Wave Runners. You can go solo or a rental employee will go with you! I took my guy with me and we both ended up falling over into the water. We mad a huge splash!

Lands End is the most southern point of Baja. On the Pacific Ocean side, you don't want to swim in the ocean. DO NOT GO IN THERE. The seas are extremely dangerous, the ocean shelf has a major drop and you won't be able to get out, ever.

Sammy Hagar has a bar in Cabo, called "Cabo Wabo" and it's a great place to dance and people watch. Who knows, you may even meet the "one" there.

Wi-fi, Internet and cell phones:
Hey, you are on vacay, so why do you need your cell phone? Toss it. However, if you have to use your cell phone, Verizon has international plans, so make sure you contact your carrier BEFORE you head out to Cabo. Wi-fi is almost everywhere in the major tourist areas.

Food and Water:
I would not drink the water in Mexico. Some hotels will say it's safe, but I think it's safer to purchase bottled water, which is sold everywhere.

Baja is not a huge resort destination, but it has some of the best seafood I have ever tasted! The Shrimp Factory used to be my favorite, but it's my understanding that they recently closed this year (2017), but may be relocating. Let's cross our fingers. They had the best damn coconut shrimp I have ever eaten.

For a unique dining experience, I would suggest a great little hole in the wall, "The Trailer Park", which is located just outside of Cabo. You have to take a taxi there, unless you have your own car. There's a tiny little restaurant with a large patio that is literally in the middle of a trailer park, thus the name. They serve some damn good steaks and fantastic Margaritas.

Don't miss The Office on the Beach for drinks and food! This place is heaven. Your tables and chairs are on the sand and the view is spectacular.

What to buy:
If you like silver jewelry and ceramics, those are the items to purchase. You can get some fabulous gorgeous jewelry for a reasonable price along with some handmade pottery that is brightly colorful and original.

HOTEL: I have stayed at two resorts on Lands End; Playa Grande and Grand Solmar. Both are spectacular hotels with excellent service. I've also stayed near the Marina at the Marina Fiesta Resort and Spa, another great place. Personally, I enjoy Lands End side because it's much more quiet.
